Maryland Scholastic State Team Championship

March 6th, 2010, Dumbarton Middle School

Teams consist of four players from the same school. One player per team in the HS and MS sections can be from a lower grade at the same school. Each round, teams play a match against another team. Standings will be by board points. Note that schools will be limited to three teams per section..

Four Championship Team Sections, trophies to top 10 teams in each section:

High School Championship: grades 9-12 4SS, G/45

High School JV (all players rated <1000): grades 9-12 4SS, G/30

Middle School Championship: grades 6-8, 4SS, G/45

Middle School JV (all players rated <800): grades 6-8, 4SS, G/30

Elementary Championship: grades K-5 4SS, G/30

Elementary JV (all players rated < 600): grades K-5 4SS, G/30

Primary Championship: grades K-3 4SS, G/30

Winner of each championship section will be the 2010 MD Match Format Team Champion.

Board order on a team will be in order of USCF ratings using the 3/10 ratings supplement. If requested, unrateds may play on any board. Otherwise, unrated players will play below all rated players. Teams from the same school will not be paired against each other unless there is no other way to pair the score group.
US Chess Federation membership is required. New USCF members can join the USCF at http://www.uschess.org before registering to get an ID number or join with their registration. All at-the-door USCF memberships will be $5 more. Contact Mike Regan This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

"The process of rating players can be compared to the measurement of the position of a cork bobbing up and down on the surface of agitated water with a yard stick tied to a rope and which is swaying in the wind." Arpad Elo, Chess Life, 1962
